I dunno but somethin is tellin me your whole N/A driveline will have to be replaced cuz quite frankly it isnt going to be able to handle a 5.0's power...nor just bolt right in either. Rebuild would probably be much easier. IMO
Who said it was a 5.0? I'll give U the benefit of the doubt. It 'used to be'. Now bored and stroked to a 327.

N E wayz, like I said, that's my last resort. RotaryRocket7, where'd U get 1 for $800? All the remans I've seen R like $11-1300.

BTW, I've already priced everything for if I was to do a conversion at http://www.grannysspeedshop.com and it won't be expensive to do. Plus I actually know how to work on them. As for the driveline....yeah, the tranny and shaft would have to go, but a stock 7's rear is super strong and would hold. Plus I like the 4.10's. But that's all besides the point, I wanna do a rebuild myself. Where can I get the stuff to do it for a good price? Or, where can I get a good, cheap reman?

Did we just lose an Rx7 to the hands of a piston engine? If so that sucks. Have fun with rebuliind that tranny to handle the torque.

It's not the tranny. Damn-it man he would have to use a GM transmission. It is the differential that will blast into a hundred peices. Is it a turbo rear-end? I have heard you guys tell and actually seen a picture posted on here of a NA rear-end after the guy had put a turbo on this engine. SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE.

I just went through the whole process myself. Part of the appeal and mystique of the 7 is the rotary engine. Your handlling characteristic are going to take a major **** on you too!

For christ sake dont waste your time and bankroll on a conversion.

just spend the cash on a nice rebuild with some portwork, matched w/ an exhaust system and an intake. That should be more than enough to go play for a while, remember its only an N/A. save the V8 for something it belongs in.

put the V8 in a Volvo 740...nice sleeper, you'll make money with that, But dont put a v8 into a Rx7..that is fucked up

personally i think a v8 in a car this light would be fun. you would actually have torque for a change. besides that, its not like hes cutting up a turbo or something. its just an se, no shortage of those.

torque? thats why we have transimssions... Anything intended to go fast ideally needs good, broad power range and low mass, as such is the definition of the rotary. flat torque curve, high redline, perfect.

I say just go with the rebuild, the rotary route.

I am in 100% percent agreement on that matter, I owned a Mustang and a 3.8l Grand-Am before my gtu and my vert....you cant beat a smart little motor, and good gearing. Just learn not to be afraid to rev the **** out of it, and you will be rewarded, it took a while for me to do this. I always though "dont go past 7000, it'll pop"....HAH
