I paid $1000 for this 86 GXL a couple weeks ago. It had brand new, I mean no dust on new, Apex gt exhaust, Pacesetter header, HKS intake, Tokico shocks, Sprint springs, and rear spoiler. The engine was bad. So I bought a used engine for $350 and a set of rims and tires for $500 shipped. So for about $2000 here is what I got. http://www.msnusers.com/Rx7GXL/shoebox.msnw

What do ya'll think about the setup. The Tokicos are the blue non adjustable ones. I never heard of Sprint springs on a Rx7, not sure how much they dropped the car. I've heard that the HKS intake although expensive is not that good. I like the GT spec exhaust. I also gutted the brand new catilytic (sp?) converter. When I put the engine in, I eliminated the airpump, ps, ac, and wired the 6 ports open.

Get those 6 ports working properly, your killing your low end torque.

Do you have to keep the airpump to work the 6 ports? And does anybody know anything about the Sprint springs, how much drop are they, are they any good? I plan to use this car for daily driver and autocross.

really nice car. no you don't need the airpump to activate the aux. ports on a S4, they're activated via back pressure which with your exhaust they won't work. with wiring them you loose some bottom end but it shouldn't be that much of a big deal. oh yeah get a racing beat header for the car the pace setter one's are crap.

Thanks man. Yea, after having the header off the car I noticed it was poorly built. I'll probally just keep the ports wired open. I had my high horsepower fun with the FD that I just sold. I don't want to reinstall either of the cats to get the needed backpressure for the ports. I think this can get me by for autocross and daily driving until I come across something I really want. A NEW 7 maybe in a couple years.

the 6 ports will prolly work off the header. trust us you are missing a big chunk of power without em

I'll look into it. Do you mean run the pipe that was originally ran from the cat to the 6 ports, to the header? How would you do that, tap into the header?

Thanks man! Yea, I still need the passenger window switch. I've just been busy with work and getting the important things done to the car. I plan to go to Pensacola this weekend, got to pick up my old engine. I'll give you a call then. I want to check out your T2 anyways. I'd like to see what you got to go with that front mount I peaked at when I saw it.
