i have just installed a BNR stage 1, and its only pushing 8 psi... the stock turbo when i bought the car was pushing 11, the car is tuned for 11psi. does anyone know if you can up the boost on this turbo with out having to get a eletric boost controller?? because with the stock one didnt have the boost controller? also idk if mine still has the defender on it, when i cruse in 5th then ease into it at 4k it bogs and drops to lean for a sec then back to normal and pulls hard? plz help thanks

i was also wondering whats the differance between a bov and wastegate? when i had the turbo sent in they put a 50or 40mm wastegate on can i just get a stiffer spring? or does the boost controller replace the wastegate??? im really confused right now any knowledge about this will really help thanks :/

A boost controller is adjustable allowing you to keep the pressurized air from getting to the wastegate till the pressure you specify. Electronic ones are preferred because you can set the boost and go, plus more tuning options. Manual boost controllers use a **** to mechanically do the same thing, but you have to turn it a little at a time then drive it hard while watching your boost gauge. Repeat that till you get the pressure you desire. The wastegate is nonadjustable unless you swap the internal spring.
A wastegate allows exhaust to bypass the turbo so as to control the boost pressure and turbine speed. A blow off valve releases excess boost pressure when shifting or getting off the gas to prevent turbine surge aka turbo surge

yea i figured most of this out by doing a little research, thanks for the info

so placing a manual boost controller will that allow less pressure to be bypasses in a external waistgate? im running 9lbs on external with no boost controller..... if i place a boost controller on it, i can make it 5lbs if i wanted? and can you go hire than the wastegate spring 9+ lbs?
