Ignoring mounting the transmission to the rx7, what would it take to get a miata NA8 (94-97) transmission to mate up to a s4 non-turbo engine? bellhousing, clutch?

Thanks

I've heard of people using the gearset out of the miata transmission... dunno how...

I don't mean using the gearset. I'm talking about the entire transmission

I'm researching for a potential 13B > miata swap.

I have a miata, and I have a 13B... the miata driveline has been known to standup to 400+hp applications, and many do 200+ for years without trouble. So no need really to change transmissions.

the 13B uses a 225mm clutch, and the miata a 215. I could get an ACT clutch for the miata in 225mm size, but I don't really need the extreme-ness of the ACT, so if a 215mm clutch would work with the 225mm designed flywheel and pp for the 13B, we'd be gold.

Another possible option would be putting a rx7 clutch on the miata transmission. The miata input shaft is 15/16" x 22spline. I'm not sure what the rx7 transmission uses though...

basically they are the same transmission except for the gearing, the bellhousing and the tailshaft housing. so basically you can put the miata guts into the rx7 case, its not too hard, although the input shafts need to be swapped

Well, if I used the rx7 case, I would lose the PPF on the miata and I'd have to have a driveshaft fab'd... I'm not sure what part of the rx7 case prevents the ppf from working but I'll findout.

if input shafts can be swapped, that would eliminate the need of mismatching the clutch.

but would still leave me with the bellhousing not fitting to the 13B problem.

maby I could use the intermediate housing and tailshaft and guts from the miata trans, and the bellhousing/case from the 7
