Thanks guys. I'd thought that a bearing had gone out, but wasn't too sure. This confirms it.

What generally is the cause of bearing failure?

Usually old. Where I work we do testing on all different types of axles, bearings fail regularly at high loads (which is what we test under) and we see some pretty funky ****, I should post some pics.

Well, I changed the oil on the thing about every month and a half. It never got too low. The oil would smell like gas real bad, that is why I would change it so often. Even with fresh oil, after driving for a day, the oil would smell like gas. I've hear people say that the smelly oil is somewhat normal if the oil is old. Could this have been part of the problem?

how many miles were on the bearings?

how hard do you regularly push your car?

When I bought the car I was told it had a rebuilt engine put in 40k miles ago. Then I put maybe another 15k on the car before the engine went. But everything was rigged on the car when I bought it, so I'm not too sure if I belive it only had 40k on it. The car was driven pretty hard some of the time I owned it, but it was well maintained too.
