I have an 88 n/a se. It runs very rich and won't idle. It has ver y little power, will berlly accel. Runs rough. It seems to run worse when the shift light starts to flicker. I am new to rotorys so any help would be great.

thanks

My guess would be to take a good look under the hood and see if everything is connected tight and right. Where the air filter box is there is a set of wires under it, make sure thats plugged in, make sure that plastic tube running to the intake manifold from the air box is tight and has no holes or isnt damaged or taped up or anything kooky like that.

Next I would say someone adjusted the TPS thinking its the idle becuase

to someone who doesnt know the rotory you would think the tps is a idle adjustment. Did you mess with ANY screws under the hood thinking you were adjusting the idle?

I bought the car this way for $500. Besides the driveabilty problem the car is top notch. The only thing I have done is check and make sure the air filter wasn't plugged, and take a good look to see if anything was abviusely disconected/cracked/broken. Everything looks ok.

How long have you had the car? Just wondering because those are similar signs of bad compression. But thats the worst case scenario.

I discovered a nonfunctional plug wire (leading #1 cylender) so I replaced wires. It runs a bit better but still not right. It dose crank slow so mabe it has something to do with bat. The volt meter reads about 14-15 volts.

thanks

There is no "check engine" light in 86-88 rx7s cause they use the atari 2600 ecu. Gotta build a 2 led test light for that series.
