I was just wondering why the shifter feels way to loose in the nuetral position. Ive heard that it happens with all 7's but is there any fix. I just hate the feeling of it.

Same here, mine is terrible. I think its a combination of the bushings being shot and supposedly theres a spring that is supposed to pull it back to the center while in neutral

I had my entire shifter assembly pretty much fall apart. When I took it apart I found the biggest mess of congealed spacers, bushings and springs, all ground into mush. I took the opportunity to install a new short shift kit from Maxdatrix which replaces all the garbage and gives you a much tighter throw. beware though, most of these replacement shifters tend to have a slight rattle/buzz at various RPM levels.

Find the heaviest shifter **** you can and it will dampen the vibrations to an acceptable level. I hope this helps.

Anyone know any prices. I would like the price of the bushing set compared to just buying a short shifter. Thanks for all the help,

Josh

Bushing will cost you around $30 total, make sure you purchase the upper and lower buching sets. The short shifter assembly will run you around $200. Mazdatrix has them both, just check their web site.

When I bought the bushing kit from the Mazda dealership it only cost me about $12. And let me tell you, it was the best $12 I'd spent on that car. I'd recomend that to anyone that is having any loose shifter problems. It'll be like your tranny got rebuilt.

"bottom" set, that contains the bushing Mazda (according to them) swears does not exist. #99-1780-M505 for 84-95
