I was just wondering why the shifter feels way to loose in the nuetral position. Ive heard that it happens with all 7's but is there any fix. I just hate the feeling of it.

I had my entire shifter assembly pretty much fall apart. When I took it apart I found the biggest mess of congealed spacers, bushings and springs, all ground into mush. I took the opportunity to install a new short shift kit from Maxdatrix which replaces all the garbage and gives you a much tighter throw. beware though, most of these replacement shifters tend to have a slight rattle/buzz at various RPM levels.



Find the heaviest shifter knob you can and it will dampen the vibrations to an acceptable level. I hope this helps.

Anyone know any prices. I would like the price of the bushing set compared to just buying a short shifter. Thanks for all the help,

Bushing will cost you around $30 total, make sure you purchase the upper and lower buching sets. The short shifter assembly will run you around $200. Mazdatrix has them both, just check their web site.

When I bought the bushing kit from the Mazda dealership it only cost me about $12. And let me tell you, it was the best $12 I'd spent on that car. do you know the part number for this bushing kit? i called mazda and they said 1 bushing for 3 bones and said it isn't a kit. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

Top" bushing set -- #17-4810-8AF1 for 79-95

"bottom" set, that contains the bushing Mazda (according to them) swears does not exist. #99-1780-M505 for 84-95
