Installed. Took me about 3 1/2 hours because of some "issues" The stock heat shielding around the manifold was a bitch to take off. All the little screws were rusted and siezed. I used a vice grip to grab the shielding and bent it up and down untill I broke it off piece by piece. There was some sort of white insulation on the inside of the heat shield that was crumbling all over. Hope is wasn't asbestos. I was carefull and tried not to touch it, and put it in a plastic garbage bag right away. Everything else came out pretty easily. I used pb blaster to help free up the nuts and bolts. Had to use a pipe over the wrench to get enough leverage but nothing stripped or broke. The main problem I encountered was the guy who had the presilencer before me stripped one of the studs and nuts that connect to the header. At first I thought it was just the nut so I got another one, and it seamed to thread on ok, but then got stuck. I had to use a ton of force to get the nut off and broke the stud. Luckily there was still enough stuff left to get a nut on, but it didn't want to thread. I took some nut I had laying around and hammered it onto the stud. When I turned it with a wrench it started threading. I wanted to replace the stud but then I'd have to take the header and presilencer off, because it was a tight fit. Other than that I had no problems. I also yanked the airpump and acv, and freed one of the 6 port actuators that appeared to be sticking. As for the test drive, the car definately feels faster, especially on the top end. It now pulls all the way to redline with no noticable drop off in power like it did when stock. The only problem is that its loud as ****! Its kinda amusing when I rev it out, but I don't like sounding like a ricer. It will have to do for now, untill I can save up money for a catback.

hey, i have the rb pipe and presilencer combo, but I was thinking about going with the headers, are they much louder? What about performance gains? Is it worth it?

The stock exhaust manifold looked like a piece of junk in my opinion. Looks like the header would easily flow better.

ya but the noise factor is what concerns me, How loud is it? Mustang straight pipe like?

Are people just spooking me out?

Post up a recording of it for us! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

would that work with a high-flow cat?

Its not THAT loud. Just sounds kind of ricey. It really neads a better catback.

A header is a must for any rotary, imo. And then compliment it w/ a catback sys. Just find your midnight muffler shop to fab a high flow to bolt in when you need to renew your tags(emissions test).
