wait till the next day? or use the right tool to "torque" the bolt and avoid the whole overtightening problem in the first place?

The CAS is to important to just jb weld it, if some of that seeped down it goes straight into your oil pan....not a place you want jb weld floating.

But anyway on topic we go i guess.

Line up the notches on the CAS, the first mark on the pulley (leading mark) and drop it in. Should be good.

If your timing is good, your wires and plugs are good, but it still feels out of time i'd check the resistance of your coils...just to weed out all possible ignition side problems.

just go over everything in your engine bay, you seem to have multiple seperate problems, the big thing with that is a couple individual problems when they get together can cause a seperate bigger problem that is harder to diagnose since multiple things are causing it. theres not much in the engine bay to check.

set the timing light to zero. line up the first mark (-5, yellow) to the pin on the front cover.

if you set the timing light to 5, you will end up wrong

im sorry, you wanted instant respect for busting out some jb weld? youre 18, and some of the people you are calling "kid" and "stupid northerner" are actual mechanics, with alot more experience turning wrench than you do

watch your mouth, or take it elsewhere

Nothing wrong with JB Weld, it can help out in unexpected situations...

But, i'm going to guess, that like the rest of the 'temp' things he has done on the car, they will never get fixed

and i was guessing the little raised ridge on the bottom of the CAS body, right ubove the gear was the mark, and the hole thats in the gear is the other makr you line up. so i lined up the hole in the gear with the little raised line on the CAS body. tooke it out for a drive and it doesnt really buck... but just... well sounds like a car out of time.
By "hole in the gear" do you mean the roll pin? Cause your supposed to line up the dimple in the gear, not the roll pin.

once you line up the marks just jb weld the gear so it doesnt move accidentally while putting it in.

and while youre at it jb weld your spark plugs in there too.

(just kidding)
