Its getting up there.....
The odometer on my car just keeps ticking, its getting up there. Its going to be time for a rebuild/new block. Is there any real difference between a rebuild and a new block? Will a rebuild last as long as a new block? Does anyone know a $ comparison?

Honestly, there is no real difference. And those "crate" motors you get from places like Atkins are just motors that have been rebuilt and cleaned up. You can't actually get a "new" block unless your order it from Mazda which will be about 3Gs, and a rebuild will run a little less then that. Best bet, do what I did..go Jspec for 1G. I mean, sure my motor is used, but it has less then 20K miles on it and is guaranteed to startup, so its really up to you. If you want porting though, go w/ a rebuild..its only $300 more for streetporting and the price varies with other types of porting. When this Jspec GTX blows, I'm getting the bridgeport
he has an N/A so he can't get a jspec block. your 2 choices would be a reman from mazda or getting yours rebuilt. either way should be fine and both have warranties. if you rebuild depends how screwed up your engine is and what parts need to be replaced. if your engine dies totally a reman would be the best thing.
