Intake Bypass
#1
Hi,
I was working on making a custom intake for my 87 GXL and I was wondering if there is any way to bypass the air regulator. It is located right past the air box. Iam putting in 3" piping and it looks very restrictive. What are some possible solutions beside buying a new ecu. Thanks a lot!

"new ecu" will come with a map sensor.... so you dont need AFM anymore

it is possible to replace the afm with a less restrictive maf but you would need some brains to make it work... as it would require something to convert the signal from the maf to what the afm puts out at the same flow rates. Or maybe at different flow rates, you could make it tunable as a crude form of programmability with the stock ecu, as the stock setup does run it a bit rich.
