I'm trying to choose to right intake. I've narrowed it down to the Apexi Super intake kit and the HKS Mega Flow Intake kit. I've went to different sites and some websites list the Apexi Super Intake for '89-91 only, and some list as '86-91...so, I'm not sure which one to get. I have a '87 n/a. ...the hks mega flow, or the apexi super intake...which do you all prefer???or which one do you all think would help increase performance? Oh yea, another thing. I ordered some Racing Beat road race headers and pre silencer combo, and an Unorthodox main drive pulley from the (rx-7store.net). They said that the racing beat and unorthodox products are on back order. But hell it's been on back order for like close to 3 months now. I was wondering if any of you guys know of a different site that has these products in stock!

-sorry I wrote so much ****..but thanks

Either intake will probably have similar results, i think the most significant variable here is what you do with the intake. You'll definately want to come up with some kind of cold air box and ideally some type of ram air configuration also. It really is not quite accurate to call these products intakes anyways, they're basically just overpriced air filters with large surface area and free flowing. When I went from stock air box to the hks super mega uber flow ultra 2001 'intake' (you'll see what i mean when you get the box, you just might regret buying it) I found 1st and 2nd gear to be significantly quicker but I'd say once into 3rd gear the performance was a little bit worse than with the stock air box. I've attributed this to the lack of any ram air effect which had occurred with the stock air box... so you will definately want to do something about that. The gains should be present at all speeds if you fabricate a cold air box and ram air though. just my $.02

btw, check ebay for a filter + adapter for the FC, thats basically what the hks 'intake' comes with. I've seen a few guys mention getting them cheap on ebay, mazdatrix charges > $100 for an hks if i remember correctly. **** a buncha that.

I wish I wouldn't have blown $150 on the Bonez intake kit. Especially on an NA, you may want to save $ and just get a K&N drop in filter for your stock air box. I need to fab an air box now since after driving the cone filter is pretty warm to the touch. Mariah makes a cold airbox kit but again, I dont know if its worth the $ for the HP increase.

just get the cheap adapter off the internet and buy a generic K&N for $40. I made my own cold are box for like $5 bucks from home depot.

If you want a cold air box for your 7 you should take a look at the ones offered at Mariahmotorsports.com. I think they offer them for both N/A's and TII's. If I remember correctly they go for about $120.
