had a little problem today. the car was running ( at idle) and then it started bogging down. acted like it was flooding out. checked all the fuel stuff out and had no problems. what i eventually found was my spark was just slowly depleting and now i have none at all. checked the coils and the cas. everything checks ok according to the specs in my haynes manual. there is just no spark going down the wires. i'll give you a description of my car to help you all out. any advise is welcome, i'm stumped.

87 n/a:

factory ignition system ( am considering putting a distributer out of an 85 and setting up and msd ignition)

625cfm demon carb ( with holley fuel reg and carter hp pump)

jury-rigged factory exhaust thats hanging on by a thread!

i,m not real good at explaining stuff so let me know if i need to explain anything better.

No fire right?

Both leading and trailing coils and igniters are within spec right?

It seems like the only things it can be are plug wires or the plugs themselves. You have ruled out the expensive stuff though.

Oh I almost forgot... Make sure you have good ground.

thanks for the reply. plugs and wires are good. the 30 amp fusible link was popped ( wanted to kick myself in the *** for not catching that yesterday!). now i need to find out what is making it blow because thats how the coils get thier power. i put a new link in and it lasted about 20 seconds. i had spark. anyone have any suggestions? does anyone see a problem with running a (new) circiut to power the coils? I'm still getting a signel from the ecu, theres just no power to coils. if i ran a new circuit to power the coils i'd think problem would be solved.

edit, i forgot to add, when i got spark back it was weak. so i added another ground, and then thier was lightning. then the link popped next time i tried! good tip!
