As I understand it:

Takes more voltage to overcome a larger resistance. More resistance = hotter spark in the secondary.

Well it's kinda confusing, you won't actually know until you do your own experiment.



From my experience, more resistance results in a longer spark, however the spark is weaker.

Well from a purly physics standpoint, V=I*R or voltage = Current * Resistance. So doing the math...
