When rewiring in my Microtech I noticed something weird about how the ignition was wired up. I just read something about this and decided to share my info.

The ECU is on the pasenger side, but fires the ignitior on the driver side. That's 6' of wiring. I wired my Microtech on the driver side.

"Instead of running the ignitor to coil wires directly to the coils which are about 18" away, they wired them back over to the chassis harness by the ECU, out to the harness that goes to the right front fender then over to the left front fender were it finally goes to the coills. That is about 14' of wiring."

So all you would need to do is cut the ignitor output wires and run them directly to the coil harness which you disconnect from the chasis harness.

Less resistance, hotter spark.

My ignition mod is a GSL-SE dizzy which has even less wiring?

on the fc, the igntior is mounted on the coil

yes

The wires that come out of the ECU dont cary a voltage that would drop enought to make a diffrence over that length.

The high voltage (potential loss over long wires) comes from the coil, which only has to travel the distance of the spark plug wires, which just so happen to be made to carry that kind of current.

The ECU doesnt "fire" the ignitor, it trips the ignitior, the ignitor "fires" the coil however.

psyclo, I was mainly talking about the igniter to coil wires. Shorter wires= less resistance and less RFI.

I ditched most of the FC's stock wiring mainly because the wiring on my FC was crap, and I'm using a Power FC configured for the FD.

Just disreguard this thread, I forgot how different the wiring is.
