Im back again. 88 rx7 n/a. Figured out why it wouldnt rev up and it started hard, front primary injector clip was on the rear secondary injector. the car was only running on one rotor, and had too much fuel to the rear which explains the cat turning red hot. so i fixed the injector issues. now when i start the car up, it rises to 3500 rpm, yeah thats right, 3500 rpm, and idles there without me touching the throttle. i thought maybe vacuum leak, but nothing is leaking. i can hit the throttle and rev up to 7-8 grand with ease now, but i CANNOT get it to idle down. all help is appreciated.

glad you've gotten it running!

sometimes when the car isnt warm it will start and rev to 3500 rpm for 30 seconds, they did this so the cats warm up faster, since only the EPA cared about that, its just kind of annoying

yeah its up and running, a little strange though. when i first start it, it has a pulsing idle between 1500 and 1000 rpm, and it doesn't stop till i rev it up to 3000 and hold it there for a few seconds. but oh well as long as it will pass smog in this shitty state, im happy. haha.

i checked for spark with the old screwdriver in the plug wire trick. worked for me. but its probably flooded if it was running and now its not. try pulling the fuel pump relay out, underneath driver side dash, and turn it over. mine always at least tried to fire off.

one guy from rx7club said to pull both egi fuses and crank for no more then 10 secs and i did that and it failed but you might want to replace your plugs if its been a while it always seemed to help me when my cars started that hunt

thats why the rx7 club is dumb, my method works better, and you dont have to get out of the seat!
