Thumbs up

I just bought my second RX-7, an '87 GSL 13B T but I think it has compression problems 'cause it doesn't like to start or run. I'm thinking total engine rebuild but I hope not. The first of my questions is - Do you know what are be the reasons a rotary doesn't like to start, other than flooding that is? The next question is - If it is a compression problem and I do have to rebuild Where do I go to buy a Rebuild DVD for a 13B T engine? If anyone can answer my questions it would be a big help.

Thank you,

Spaz

Be sure you do a compression check before you make any decisions regarding a rebuild.

I agree with Baldy 100%.

Compression test cold and warm, see if the numbers match or if you have bad cold compression and good warm compression, etc.

That's a great starting point. Fact of the matter is, 20 year old parts suck. Engines, yes, but consider: ignition parts. Ground straps. Fuel pumps. Starter motors. Vacuum lines. Fuel injectors. Stock ECUs. Stock ECU Harnesses. The list is really long.

You might be able to put a new block to chassis ground and a handful of small problems with the car will disappear.

There are plenty of reasons why a perfectly good motor won't run or start properly. If you have good compression numbers, this is the place to come for ideas and solutions on eliminating run problems.
