LMFAO. I had the same thing happen to my 88. You could take the key out when started.
Funny thing about most second gens. You can use ANY 2nd gen, and it will be universal with all. Starting, locking/unlocking doors.

We had a similar issue with a first gen a while back, I just stalled it out to turn it off. But I would check your ignition switch connections. Was the dash out of the same series (like s4 to s4 or s5 to s5?) another temporary option is to install a push button "kill" switch.
Oh, and yea..a lot of the FC keys are the same as other FC keys...my '88 key unlocks my friends '86 base car...doesn't start it though, which is weird,lol..scary nonetheless though...
