I was playing around some more today with my timing. A friend of mine was over and as I was cranking the motor..he was like...dude, it sounds like its arcing somewhere....
...naturally, I'm like..WTF..since I have been working on the car solo, I could never hear it from inside the vehicle..so i had him get in and crank it over...sure enough, you could hear the loud tick of a spark arcing somewhere, but couldnt see where at. Well we moved the ignition wires away from the chassis(shock tower) and i cranked it over...the car started right up and revved to 3200RPM, very scary actually..so i turned it off. Readjusted the idle, and it still revved high, but my battery was quickly dieing after all these starting tries...so I'm going to play with it tom to fine tune it. I think it is idling so high, because back when i had the jspec w/ a blown rear rotor, the only way I could get it to idle was when i adjusted the idler screw up to where it would go to 2K rpm...so i need to adjust it all the way back down and start working my way up. My timing probably needs some adjusting still too, but little things at a time. My girl is buying me some new plugs and wires at the end of the week, so hopefully by next week all will be good
I hope to make it NOPI in Dinwiddie Va on August 18th..lets see if I can make that goal.
