Whats the most important thing to keep your car idling??? I'm asking this because my car hasn't idled for at least 6 months. I have to fukin' side step the gas when I brake. (yes its dangerious)

here are the things i replaced to make my GTU idle normal 95% of the time. new afm, new TPS, replaced lower intake manifold gasket. have you checked all of those ???

RotaryBoy88 05-06-2002 10:08 AM

nope. :p Whats the tps look like? Im to lazy to take all my efi off now for the gasket.

TPS is on the throttle on left side not on the firewall side. it has to POTS on it. its very easy to find on a N/A. they wear out and can be attributed to alot of idle problems. if you want to see if your gaskets are good get a can of carb cleaner and spray it around the engine if idle evens out you have a vacuum leak. my car had a HUUUUUUGE vacuum leak from LIM made it run like CRAP! good luck https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/kloguck.gif

My car does make a BIG vacuum leak sound when it cuts off after it should be idling. Just curious, How the hek does carb cleaner stop the leaks for a sec? Ill give it a try though, And im going to mazda today with my friend so ill see how much the wanna rape me for the TPS. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/moon.gif

The carb cleaner will get sucked into the intake and burn up like gasoline.

another fun thing you can do with carb cleaner involves a lighter and the carb cleaner bottle :newburn:

I used to do that with hairspray bottles when I was younger. Now I do it with my car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Now what i need for my red 87 is for someone to sit on the hood and spray carb cleaner into it while I'm driving it to fix that freaking leak I can't find https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I seem to remember incinerating a wasp nest that got me stung one day using that trick
