Before I got my headers on, of corse I bent the top left stud when I was trying to get the rusty old exhaust manifold off, so I bent it back kinda. :madgo: I slipped the new headers around my nice bent stud, and put the bolts back on, turned them tight and I guess from bending it back and tighting the bolt a bit to tight, The ******* stud comes falling out with aluminum on the threads!! :director: https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/mecry.gif :newburn:

I guess I could go abit bigger than the origanal hole, but how much bigger could I go??? Do you know the stud size?? |

If you bring the stud to Pep Boys you should be able to find one. Tapping the hole with a slightly larger tap would be ok. |
Otherwise do the heli coil... I think that is what they are called. You drill and thread a bigger hole, then you thread replacements in and use the same size stud...

I've done this more times then I can count with VW heads as they are notorious for having the sparkplugs strip as they come out. Plus I've sheered off a few studs here and there too, be thankfull it just came out and you don't have to take it to a machine shop to have it pulled. If you DO ever sheer off a stud, try a pair of cobra grip pliers, you'd be STUNNED at what those suckers can get a hold of. I'm also real fond of my snap on (blue point) extractor set. Never broke one off unlike an EZ-OUT. |

You're in good company today, I broke one of the studs that holds the BAC valve on taking it off. Sheered it off reaaallllll good.
Ah well, there's enough to grab on to just have to get a replacement. |
