Hybrid Turbo For Fc
#22
I sold Mazdadrifter my Hybrid T-04E. I ran it for a year w/o any problems. He just got his car going so lets see how it does w/ him.
I would run more than 12 PSI on it though it will last a long time that way. Better situation would be to boost 7 PSI for daily driving and 12 for Racing etc..
I bought the Series 5 Turbo on Team for $300 complete w/ manifold etc.. I sent it to Majestic and had it rebuilt and converted to a the T-04E. Put 242RWHP @ 9 PSI w/ stock ECU 720 secondaries and a S-AFC.
My dad had his FD twins rebuilt by them for $1000 and they blew out an oil seal on the rear turbo.
I guess sometimes you get a good rebuilt and sometimes you dont.

I have a spare S5 TII turbo i got for 50 CDN. That is like 35 USD?
No shaft play, the problem with it is smokes from the turbo. My thinking and the seller's is that there is something wrong with the bearing and coolant is leaking onto the hot turbo and making it smoke right on the turbo.

they are around 600 or so.

Anyways that's surprisingly a lot more than what i had expected. I remember back when i had my MKIII to upgrade that turbo most people didnt go over 300 bucks.

If a hybrid turbo is running a T04 housing and wheel, why can't it last at higher boost levels like 15-20? Is it because it still has to deal with the smallish stock hotside (at least when comparing it to a full t04B turbo)?
