Just wondering who here is still running a hybrid turbo. Vosko do u know what happened to the one on your old TII? did it blow up?



I know hyrbids are not the answer to High HP, but that is not my problem/question.



I've been doing some searches from way back in the day of rx7club.com when it had good useful information.

I remember reading this 2 years ago and thinking, PERFECT this is exactlywhat i want.



I do not wish for high HP, I enjoy autox and like how the car behaves, just want a bit more grunt then what i can do wtih a stock turbo at hi PSI. Around 275 RWHP is ideal for me.



I remember many many moons ago, this was the ideal setup for FCs when they were new on the market place and no one knew about using a Huge T4 single to make power.

Also what can you guys tell me about replacing the carbon seal to a dynamic seal on the HT-18. Possible? Worth it?

I'm pretty sure Vos blew his up. How many people actually have hyrbids/stock turbos that last at high psi???

How long does a hybrid last at ...say 15 psi?

Off the top of my head I can only list rpeck over on the other forum. He has a 60-1 compressor wheel in a to4b housing. I'll have a bnr stage II soon....h3 wheel in a to4b housing, exhuast wheel clipped 10 degrees. I'm shooting for 275rwhp on the stock ecu, and 300+ when I eventually switch over to stand alone. Hopefully henrik will have his stage 1.5 ecu out soon and I can try it out.

I didn't realize k2rd was still around. I remember there site was down for almost a month when I was looking to get the kyb agx's. Places off the top of my head I know do hybrids:



majestic turbochargers (waco, tx)

bnr (birmingham, al)

turbonetics (san bernadino, ca)



You could probably just reach 275 with a v-trim, which can be machined into the stock housing.

It has been my experience that Majestic's hybrids are good, make good power, and last about a month before they need a rebuild.

i'm running a hybrid and my car is strong as hell, but I did all kinds of other **** to it too.

I'm running the BNR stage III and made 307rwhp at 1 bar and an 11.5:1 a/f ratio. It's not bad and spools very quick. I'm not sure how long it will last though. I only bought it because of a limited budget during engine rebuild. I'm sure if the a/f ratio was around the range of 12:1 or 12.5:1 I would have made more power.

yes he is. we put an h trim compressor (or hell if you swap to a t4 compressor housing you can do anything you want), and bore out the exhaust for an o trim wheel.



that turbo lasted like 5 laps, but the motor killed it



my hybrid (stock s5 exhaust, v trim compressor) has about 15k on it, dyned 265rwhp@9psi on cymfc3s's car and is still fine, its getting an o trim exhaust and going onto the fc2010

yah, the hybrids are great. For one, because they fit in the stock location and use all the stock oil and coolant lines, its a cakewalk to install. Fabing your own lines can sometimes be a hassle unless you know what your doing. Plus, you can use the stock downpipe. The hybrid worked really well on my car with low boost, made great power all around.
