I can't figure out how to take off my sunroof, it's the type that tilts up at the back, then slides back over the hatch.

Thanks

remove inner liner, there are 6? 10mm nuts that hold it to the track

you may have to push the roof in the up position to get the liner off, it slides in one side and the other side is held in with clips, otherwise you will end up damaging the liner

there is a manual release to the rear under that plastic cap.

I just took mine off yesterday...

Open the sunroof about 2 inches back, and squeeze your fingers in between the headliner and the metal of the sunroof at the front (where it is open). Gently pull down at both corners and the middle, the headliner is held in by 3 plastic clips up there. Once it is free from all 3 clips, pull the headliner forward towards the nose of the car, then down into the cabin.

Next, close the sunroof and undo the 6 10mm (Banzai had it correct) nuts on the track. Push up on the metal, you may need to push hard as the foam it rests on may have become sticky in the heat. It will pop straight up.

The entire process only took about 10 minutes the first time I did it.

this is how i did it....

unscrew something...see if it does anything....pull....unscrew something else...pull more....until everything was out. then putting it back is just reverse of whatever you did to get it out...HINT: you will see little plastic covers over all the screws...careful not to break them if you want to put them back after to hide all the little screws

what are you talking about?

3 people give him real advice to remove the skin and your advice is, well, I dont know what to make of it?

Your advice is so vague and generalized that it covers taking anything apart EXCEPT the sunroof, there are no covers on any screws holding the headliner on the skin, there arent even any screws.

However- dont feel discouraged from posting real information on the future

Hey guys, I’m new to this forum, always been on Rx8 club until now. Anyways I want to re upholster my headliner and interior plastics and the upholstery shop is asking about the sunroof shade. Would anyone know if the whole sunroof assembly needs to be removed in order to drop the shade? I’ve replaced the sunroof in my Rx7 before and that was quite easy but I don’t recall how the shade came out. I may end up just removing all the parts myself and dropping them off but either way just wondering if anyone knows. Thanks everyone!
