i wanted to know the other many ways of taking off the flywheel nut without using a impact gun.

Can i use the tool mazdatrix sells with a box wrench. Now wont that cuase a problem if im werking under the car sitting on a ramp and jackstands?

how much force to do i need to take it off and put it back on

Can i use a chizzle to spin the flywheel nut around till it loosens up a bit?

theres a think made by mtrix or rb i think that you bolt to the block that holds the fw in still. you should be able to use that while the engine is in the car

get a long peice of steel. Drill two holes in the long peice of steel to match up with two holes on the flywheel where the pressure plate normally bolts to. Turn the flywheel until the peice of steel braces against the floor and giver

it helps if the steel is angle iron. Also, you might want to put a long piece of pipe (i used a 10 or 12ft) over your breaker bar for more leverage. Those things are way to tight.

otherwise just buy the tool from mazda trix

where can i get this box wrench and wahts the diameter of the flywheel nut

Dakmis 05-31-2005 08:18 PM

impact wrech got the nut of in 5seconds. then to get the flywheel itself off took forever. basicly beat the **** out of it with various mallets and pieces of wood that won't really hurt the flywheel. but that didn't work. what we ended up doing to get it off is taking a bolt that fits the holes in the middle and just tighting it till the flywheel popped off. make sure the bolt has a flat tip. be warned it could cause some damage to the endhousing too though

um im pretty sure the bolts that hold the transmisson work... grab one see if its the right pitch and then goto some kind of fastener store and get a few

Just trust me on this. Dont even bother trying to pull the flywheel without an impact gun. It would take you less time to put the engine in the back of a truck and take it to a shop and have them put an impact gun on the nut than it will be for you to try to take it off with hand tools.

yeah impact gun is the only way, spaceman spiff and i tried taking it off with a 6foot pipe and doing a leg press on it and the thing didn't budge. so we pushed the car a block away to used my friend's impact gun
