Hks = Shite
#1
Lately ive noticed ive had some wierd vacuum leak thats been hard to track down and the bov had been making some odd noises - not quite as high a pitch as usual, more like a muffled hissing. Its an hks ssqv bov and i ecided to take a look at it and lo and behold the plastic ring that seals up the valve has broken loose from its support. wtf. that thing isnt under that much pressure.
Now for the next hks problem. Hks turbo kit and integrated wastegate. One: there are no specifications anywhere what psi the wastegate opens, even the guys at hks couldnt tell me. Two: I noticed some time back that my wastegate was stuck open and refused to close. Well i popped the cover off of the back of the turbo after removing the downpipe to find that one of the two valves that cover the exhaust bypass holes had broken off. It had busted right the hell off! It was stuck in the bottom sideways holding the valve open. Now unless my engine grenaded and sent pounds of shrapnel spewing out I dont see any reason that it should have broken off. I would have expected more from a 2600 dollar turbo kit and a 300 dollar bov, neither of which were abused. So now i get shitty response and im sure they arent going to warranty either of them. Worthless bastards.
Hopefully my trusty jb weld will remedy the bov problem. Thats easy enough to get at. Busting out the mig to fix that damn turbo is another problem altogether.
