I am currently using the stock radiator fan and pulleys at this time. When it was running it seemed to do OK. the car is pretty much stock, so I hadn't really looked into changing them yet. If I can get it runing and play with it some, I will definitely entertain any suggestions for getting more out of it.

I haven't given up yet on the motor, so I think I'll hang on to it for now

I was thinking about other differences between the new and old motors, and the new motor has a port tapped in each rotor above the spark plugs for a sensor. It had one in the number one side, and nothing in the 2nd. The original motor had one sensor in the middle below the oil filler tube. The new motor has one extra electrical fitting just below the coolant filler, that the original did not. The new motor had only the oil level sensor on the oil pan. The old one also had two extra wires with plugs. The old oil pan is now on the new motor. I also put the sensor above the spark plug back in the middle like it was on the original. Those are the oly differences I can see.

Sorry to hear that you didn't like the work done on your car. Did they not do a good job, or just didn't get as much performance as you wanted? Do you think they would mess with something like the problem I'm having? I'd lots rather trailer the car to them than have a local shop with no real rotory experience just waste my time and send me a bill.

Please let me know of any other suggestions. Ihave a 90 day return policy on the motor, but I really hate to yank it out if I may be able to get it working.

Ugh! Those problems sound crappy. The extra sensor port in the front rotor housing is for a knock sensor. The sesor on the Oil filler neck is your duty control solenoid(boost controller) I've done the NA to turbo swap myself but I'm not by any means a top rotary mechanic. I'd probably take advantage of that 90 day warranty if I were you. Without real expert advice I wouldn't attempt to do the 89-91 swap into an 88. Plus running an S5 motor with a 88 ECU does not sound like a good idea. If you decide to get an S5 ECU you also need wiring harness etc... I think it would be too costly and messy personally.

Thanks fo ryour help guys. I may need to call rotary engineering or some other specialist to be sure. I sure will hate to yank it, but it looks like that might be what I have to do. Any recomendations on the best place to get a new motor?
