Okay folks i need some help with picking an FC...I looked at both and can't make up mind....Sad....please help here's the situation.

1987 Rx-7 turbo 2

The body is fine except it has small parking lot door dings and needs minor body work to driver side fender. I personally dont like the paint color and interior but i can switch them both. The engine was just rebuilt and ported as well as the turbo being rebuilt. It has a generic air intake and polished intake manifold(well the thing connected to the throttle body) it has the Ac compressor and all components to that removed. It also has a short shifter and 3 1/2 Y exhaust it doesn't have cats either. The wiring he has redone so the engine looks cleaner. Oh yeah the interior looks Fair. It also has Koni adjustable shocks all around and has decent tires. The front windshield has large cracks and needs to be replaced. Also the battery has been placed behind the driver. Oh yeah the gas gauge doesn't work properly. Oh yeah and he is running 11.5psi...i dont know how good this it...and he was the one to rebuild the engine. I drove its maiden mile.

1988 Rx-7 turbo 2 Anniversary Edition

The body on this one is better as well as the interior. But i will need to replace moon roof with salvaged one this one on the car has rust on it. The Ac compressor is shot and needs to be replaced. the car is stock. And the wiring looks well....Stock. Its gonna need tires and also needs front struts. This car also has no Cats and i have no way of someone passing the car on smog. The guy above at least has someone that will pass it for 150. The engine on this one is JDM....the sorry thing is that i have no one to tell me how many miles are on it but he has but 20k that he personally put on it....this guy is trying to find someone to pass the car on smog for me though. Oh yeah there is oil in small places and lots on the chasis which i think is from the previous engine. But where should oil no be coming from...i know the best would be nowhere...but where's common. Need help someone help help help.

But here are my choices....someone please help....please help...please.

get the AE just because it's an AE and they both will most likely need some work.

The AE is more valuable in the end...only 1500 of 'em made...how much are the people asking for the cars?

I'd get the 87 just because it sounds like he's already put a bunch into it thta you would likely end up doing anyways, but this dependa greatly in how much you trust his capabilities as a mechanic. If it's all fucked up you will end up redoing it.

The anniversary is 2800 right now and the 87 is 3000. Oh yeah and i had another question. Does it matter since both of them had basically straight exhaust that it would damage the engine...As i think the straight through design would increase boost dramatically....Any help so the AE huh...i just really want a good base so you guys help would be magnificant...

And the help you have already give is greatly appreciated...i have been getting anxiety from thinking too much about which to buy....

Oh yeah the guy that rebuilt the engine said that he has redone some engines for some guys from mazda power. And also the 87 Turbo's FMIC is kinda small...and for this to be installed he added his own Arrowhead bottle(literally) water reserve. And does anyone know of a place in the LA or Inland Empire area that would pass these cars for money thanks.

If the motor is built right...I guess I'd go for the '87 if it comes down to price. They are close together in costs, and the '87 already has a new engine and has more work done to it..if your looking to do your own mods and your own stuff...then get the AE...

I dont know where you live, but to re-paint the car with a color change yor looking at $2500 at least, factor in the windshield, the interior that you dont like, and that car isnt such a bargain considering its a 1987.

And as for that AEs being rarer, I have seen more AEs for sale

then TIIs or FDs, lol. Maybe its the same few being sold over

and over and over again.

Personally I would get the 88, cosmetics can run big bucks if

you dont do them yourself. Engine and drivetrain are easier

in my opinion. You can probably buy used converters or a replacement

converter and that 88 will pass on its own because you said its stock otherwise.

Check if oil is coming out of the turbo, otherwise some oil on the drivers side under the oil filter area is normal.

Ahh the paint can wait same with body work i have a buddy that will do both for me not for free but for a good price.

So you saying that a stock turbo 2 will pass smog with just one High flow cat or cat. Does it have to be those Bonez cats..??? But besides cosmetics what do you think.
