How do I get the rod connecting the motor to the headlight off without breaking the plastic inserts on each end?

I did that on the old motor and the plastic clip broke. Any suggestions...wd40 or something?

LOL

I learned that the hardway over the weekend. I was fixing the vert's headlight. I pulled out nicely but when I pent to push in, I pushed too hard and the plastic thing popped out.

Is that part available by it self mike?

I ended up taking the from the s4 for now since there is no engine. Is probably cheaper to get the rod at the junkyard.
