I get a lot more respect there for some reason. Not as much piston hate there, or maybe it is the more potent moderator presence. People see 'integra' here and shoot flames like a straight through exhaust on a 15 second FC.
strange, I havent experienced that here really, I've seen people go off the wall about v8 swaps but they are usually the relatively useless members that don't do much in general but say stupid things. And you certainly have more of those over @ 'the club'.

well i'm really sorry to hear that, i know i have been following your progress on the paint and ports in both forums. i think you just need to spend some more time here and let some more people get to know u.

get one of those air bypass things in line with your filter otherwise youll hit a puddle and suck tons of water into the engine, as that looks like a perfect scoop and hose for the water to travel through.



a air bypass isn't too much i dont think, but safe is best.

Maybe I ran into a couple losers my first few days here. They are both lounge regulars with bad attitudes (in my opinion). You aren't allowed to flame at the club, but it appears tha anything goes here, at least if you are a forum supporter. But I see what you mean, there are a few winners over there too.



The duct is designed to give a slight ram air effect (1-2 psi at most) and I had some time on my hands this past year, so I made the bumper shape out of fiberglass.

I remember reading a big thread at the evil forum talking about "ram air" and in the end I guess the verdict was it could only creat .001 psi....

I should go find that.....



Looks good integ, I wanted to do that setup before my engine swap...

Ram air is a tricky subject because it has not been proven to provide actual boost over atmospheric pressure, but it can make up for the natural restriction of the intake system to the point of having intake pressure equal to atmospheric (ie. no vacuum at WOT). This can be in the form of adding a few psi to a negative (vacuum relative to ambient) intake pressure, hence my goal of a couple psi improvement in actual intake pressure. The actual "boost" may never get above ambient pressure like with real forced induction, but the HP addition to an NA engine is noteworthy. I have studied some of the LS1 V8 ram air and other intake scavenging tricks and let me tell you, there is a lot of engineering $ getting invested in modern NA V8 intake technology. Reducing the vacuum in the intake system on a modern Corvette LS1 engine was worth 30-50ish ponies. If I get 15 out of my intake while at speed, I will consider the project a success. Of course, the butt dyno will be all I have to go on.



When I get this beast situated with the basics, I'll install a boost gage and note any vacuum differences between WOT at low speed and WOT at 100ish mph, and of course 60. We mechanical engineer wannabes love this kind of endless tinkering. It will be interesting to see any reduction in intake vacuum readings, hopefully to approach 0.

Hoooooooooly crap, that is seriously the most beautiful ram air scoop I have ever seen. Ever. I installed an air ram scoop on my Probe (I was bored), and Butt Dyno thinks it net me maybe 1-2hp, lol. I used tubing from an old vacuum cleaner.

My interpretation is this forum values freedom of speech, where rx7club is more like a **** camp and if you're not saying what those in power like to see you get censored and/or banned.

I have heard that many times. I guess I am lucky because it hasn't happened to me at all (being warned, having a post edited, etc).
