On my six-port (in an '85 actually) I'm thinking of removing the actuators and contouring the ports with epoxy steel like Bruce Turrentine does for his airplane motors, since it's apart anyway.



Has anyone here done this, or even just removed the actuators? Was the low-end torque loss worth it?

i wired mine open, and it felt a tad bit faster, but anything other than wot, you lose. try wiring them open see what you think

Well I don't think there'd be nearly as much benefit to just keeping them open all the time as there would be to contouring the ports with epoxy. And since the motor is apart now, it would be much easier to do that now. And then I couldn't really go back.



I just want to know if it would be worth it . . .

 

i wired mine open, and drove it aound. they arent wired open anymore.

i dunno about the contouring though

I welded my vlavs open, lost a little bit in the low end. I removed the spring things that are bolted under the arms to the valvs that make it work, swong the arms all the way open till they hit the stop and welded the arm and the stop togher (don't trust wire unless it's melted!!)

 

Well too late now it's going back together as stock
