The Deal:

I have a 12 a motor that has the large intake manifold with the aux port valve actuators on each side of the air valve controller.

Im not going to explain what they do because if you dont know , I dont need anymore confusion on the matter.

The Question:

1) a. Why are these on my car? b. Do I even have aux. intake ports? The only thing I can find in the 61035(460) haynes manual,79-85,is a reference to a 13b FI in the revisions section in the back of the manual. The only picture I could find on the net is also a 13b.

2) Do I need these? I was planning to remove the air control valve when I saw this problem. And since the smaller intake wont bolt on I need to know what I should do about them. I was hoping I could just take them off??

If you actually have a 12A you don't have auxiliary ports. Either a) your manifold is on there with an adaptor (not likely) or b) congratulations you have a 13B!

Yeah, that's why I didn't mention it - what are the odds?

Yea, Im about to send pics of it in a few minutes, and theres definitly no adapter.

And the actuators do go into the engine and hook up, but it definitly says 12a on the rotor housing.

thanks drifter

here are the pics of my "strange" intake manifold. Strange to me. Ive made a crude plate for what used to be the air control valve.

note the valve switches for the auxiliary port valve actuators.

Does anyone know if I can leave the actuators off?

if so what will i do with the switches.
