Finally got my damn electric fan put in. I also picked up an optima battery, and put that in. No more voltage problems  I didn't notice much of a difference with the electric fan vs. the stock one. But then I have only put about 10 - 15 miles on my car since I put it on, and it has been too wet here to tell.

Which fan did you use?

It is a Hayden 16" 1900 cfm fan. I picked it up at my local auto parts store (Pep Boys). It was about $85. It makes my engine bay look so much more spacious. Once you get all the bull **** pulled off the engine it looks so tiny. :newlaugh:

I have not driven the car much since I put it in. As far as I can tell it isn't running hot  I'll figure that out over the next week. The fan covers up 3/4 of my radiator, and moves plenty of air. At first they tried to sell me a 14", but I told them to give me the biggest one that they had.

Oops! I was wrong, it is a 1700 cfm fan.

I was thinking of going electric also. With all of the horror stories I have heard about Mazda's overheating it has me thinking twice.
I have no fan shrod though which is why I thought maybe electric would be better, plus I like the idea of being able to leave the fan on to remove any heat soak in my engine bay. |
