so i follow the wireing manual and what?
Look at the diagrams relevant to the systems you are having problems with, armed with a multimeter and/or test light, diagnose the problems. If you don't know how to read the diagrams or anything about electricity you might want to pick up a book on the general subject or have someone more qualifiied look at it.

The diagrams give you a map of the wiring, so if your headlights are being retarded, depending on what they are doing, you can test the switch out knowing which colored wires effect what. Try powering them directly with them unplugged from the harness to see if they work at all, if they do isolate the problem to the harness (short or lack of continuity) or the switch, or maybe a relay in between.

It's simple troubleshooting/problem solving, divide the problem into possible causes, subdivide if necessary, take a logical approach to testing each possibility, eliminating them until you find the problem. AKA process of elimination, you will need some knowledge of electrical systems so you will know how to eliminate the possible causes (and identify the possible causes in the first place). You will need to look at the diagrams to see what possibilities there are for failure.

Is any of this making sense?

of course do the obvious things first, check fuses, make sure the things misbehaving are plugged in... battery not dead. etc.
