wanna hear one of the reasons i found out about why cars flood. ok other than rx-7s having major problems on there own you wouldnt want it to flood. now apparently there was a flaw in the switch for cold starting and if you dont let the car get up to normal operation temperature the car will save the file so when you go to start the computer up and turn the car over it still thinks your cold starting and will flood the engine to run rich trying to get the car up to n.o.t.. apparently when this happens to much you wanna clean the spark plugs and change the oil. other than that its a real problem though. you want to let the car get to normal operation temperature before you shut it off again and that way it wont keep flooding.

just some advice.

if your using a haltech adjust it to run lean and try and start the car.

i cant believe people still pop thier hoods to pull fuses when

the car floods, you dont even have to get out of

the driverseat when it happens.

Yes, please enlighten us Rob x-7. If you are talking about just flooring the gas pedal, that only works in the S5 not the S4.

What other way is there for the S4 owner other than pulling a fuse?

With all this talk about cars flooding, I have been kinda wondering what has been happening with your cars?

Since my rebuild, my car has not flooded once. Not once. I maybe just lucky. I have other problems like possibly not being able to pass inspection and a loose connection on my wiring harness but the car has not flooded in a year (rebuilt last year). Maybe I am lucky.

I think Rob is pulling the harness off the fuel pump relay. its near the pedals on the steering column.

But i think if your always having this problem you should;

A: find the source of the problem

B: if you find its the injectors and you dont want to spend the cash, wire a switch to said pump relay.

my car doesnt flood.

I pull the harness by the steering wheel column, you can

also wire a switch to it, I have typed it about a bazillion

times so it should be easy to do. You can pull the harness and

crank the engine at the same time, its a 1 person operation

and then you can plug it back in when you like.

There was also a picture of the harness someplace as well.

and yes- if your car is always flooding then you should find the source

of the problem. My car sits alot, sometimes for months, so when I first

go to start it I pull the harness.

to the right side of the steering column is a wiring harness, one side

of it is yellow I believe, there is like 6-8 wires or so in it, you unplug the harness

when you get a no start, crank the car over, usually there is enough

gas in the engine for it to start, once it does you plug the thing back in

once you know where the plug is you can use one hand for the key

and one for the harness.

if your getting the fast cranking like there is no compression you can

use this method as well.
