I noticed that before but never really cared about it. Here's the deal, when my tank is almost empty, removing the gas cap result in a popping noise from the gas tank. You can also hear the air getting in it b4 the popping.....

is it normal?

on a hot day it should whoosh at you (its a sealed system), if its worse that that, it could be a plugged charcoal canister, the small line going into it goes right to the tank, so pull it off and see if anything changes

it could be. on my friends 323 the charcoal cannister plugged and the gas would leak out from the sender unit when you parked the car.

no you can't do that. the charcoal cannister keeps pressure from building up in the gas tank, and yours is probably plugged. you need to get another one, or a vented gas cap
