I figured it out. I went back at it last night and it turned out i simply wasnt pulling the lever far enough. I had to pull it at a 90 degree angle before it would open.



I'm surprised it didnt break. Before i was pulling until it felt like it was going to snap off but i decided to keep pulling and pulled even harder and the door finally popped open. Still, it feels like the mechanism needs to be calibrated perhaps.

that happened to mine.

i pulled out the whole latch assembly thing and cleaned/lubed it up. worked it back and forth for a while and put it back in.

good as new

just a warning I broke the trunk release cable on my other vert by

pulling up on it hard.



Take the plastic plunger apart and sand it down a bit, it tends to

get fucked up over time, then lube it up good with anti-seize

or even a bit of wheel bearing grease, you can even use some

vasoline if you dont have any of the other lubes.



Then put it back together and bend the little springy thing out

a bit so it releases the door better when the cable is pulled.
