I run 87 octane in my '90 TII. It's completely stock, and I've never had a problem. However, I run 93 octane in my '87 TII, but I'm pushing more boost on a ported motor in that car.

the higher the octane rating of the fuel the more efficient and complete the burn is resulting in less carbon build up not more!!

Any boosted or high rpm engine might run good on low octane but it runs its best at what it needs if you care about your car or bike run what factory says theres a reason for it and please stop necro posting

He's increasing his post count and digging up old good info. No harm no foul, he's fine

Yea true but then you could just arcive or sticky them with a lock

Water injection systems are a proven World War II Supercharged airplane technology that will let you run sick boost on 87. The water mist keeps internal cooled down and eliminates preignition detonation. I read an article on a WRX making a safe 500hp on regular gas.

Re: The Gas Debate

+1 for water injection, or 50/50 methanol/water injection.

Its a tried and true method. It decreases intake and combustion temps and helps combat carbon buildup. Decreased chance of detonation and a cleaner motor = win. You can buy a basic pressure activated kit for around $250-$300.

Out of curiosity anyone on here running E85 on their Turbo 2?
Not looking to start a debate of gas vs ethanol. Just wondering if anyone is running it.
