So I drive my 7 to work yesterday and its a beautiful day and everything is lovely and then on the way home I'm on the interstate, left lane, maybe 70 and the right front blows out! I thought I lost a wheel or something. Brought it to a stop, lucky the Dodge truck behind me didn't run me over. Wait for tow truck, get it home, etc. etc. Didn't have my spare 'cause it was in the garage from when I took it out to save weight at the strip. Maybe now I'll put it back!

Figures the right front was the best tire on the car. Dunlop SP sport or something. Z-rated. The whole outer sidewall split, leaving the outer bead separate from the tread all the way around the tire! My neighbor works at Tire America and he's getting me a couple of Yokahama's today so we can run the car tonight.

Like the sarge on Hill Street Blues used to say, "Let's be careful out there!"

This was my first. It wasn't too bad, really. I always imagined a blowout on a front tire would be harder to control. But it was a bit rough.

My front tire came off of my Jeep one time when I was doing about 40-45. I was just entering a long sweeping corner that turned to the left so I skidded kind of in a curve and managed to get it to stop on the shoulder. What was funny is that as soon as my tire popped off it kept rolling, first it was right beside me and then moved in front of me. For about 150 feet or so I was following my tire, lol. It eventually cought some air off an embankment and flew in a bunch of bushes. I never found it. Btw this happened two days after I had my tires rotated at Les Shwab, I guess someone forgot to tighten those lug nuts completely!

I am having the Yokahamas mounted today. Anybody have any good things to say about the A550?
