i was wondering if i would be able to replace the fuel rail myself. I know i got to take off the upper manifold and intercooler. Is it hard to depressurize the fuel system?

It's very easy to depressurize the fuel system. Go buy yourself the Hayes manual for your car. Any local Autozone or Pep Boys will have it. The manual will go through the proceedures step by step. The Mazda service manual is also online here.
