id have to say if the guy is even asking the origional question he is not ready for a standalone and does not understand enough to tune one him self and would have to pay quite alot for someone else to do it.

this is why i have recomended the rtek 1.7 which is a retuned stock ecu designed to use 720 cc secondary injectors and has fuel and timing designed for running boost past the fuel cut ( which it actually eliminates completly)

PS... it is my goal in life to eventually be able to do the tuning myself....

theres 3 ways to go here, imo for 8-10psi.

1. "BDC way", used haltech is CHEAP, decent maps arent too hard to find. prolly still need more fuel pump. with good tuning, the sky is the limit here

2. "j9fd3s way", mine is limited to 8-10psi, could go more but it becomes unsafe. you need more fuel pump, fd pump is fine, walbro is better. you need some kind of fuel control, i like fcon's personally, super afc would work too, rtek is fine, but you need something. i had no driveability problems with 550/680 injectors, although i think a stock port/stock turbo car @8-10 psi doesnt quite need it. also with an exhaust and intake you're pretty much running 8-10psi already and dont need a boost controller....

3. i forgot what the 3rd way is, but its not safe, pop goes the motor

sorry not a thread jack but I have a question pertaining to all this...

anyway right now my mods are full single 3 inch exhaust turbo back, intake,FCD, im wondering what I should do next... just add a walbro and leave it alone? will I be risking my motor if I go any farther without say an rtek?

the object to a rotory that is going to last longer then ten minutes is FUEL!!!! NEVER run LEAN....

the reason I started this thread is because I wanted to figure out what peoples opinions were on an inexpensive way to gain a little bit of reliability and be able to turn the boost up two or three pounds at the same time.

it has come to my conclusion that in my case... I believe the best way to go is to use an rtek 1.7 with 720 secondaries and a walbro untill I can afford and learn to tune a standalone (which will be in the near future). Because at least with a chip tune (a re-flash) there will still be some kind of fuel and ignition tuning for after 9psi. and also has other features like clear flood, built in FCD, etc...

here is the wierd part.... when I picked up this TII... the guy kept saying something about a "ecu flasher" and I had NO idea what he was talking about. he kept telling me that the motor is "street ported" and you have to turn the engine over a few times before you let it start to circulate oil. so he would hold the throttle to the floor so that the engine would not start then he would let off and it would fire up and run.... I believe I have some investigating to do...

having a streep port has nothing to do with priming the engine, at least not that i know of

doing what he said is just that, supplying oil to the engine without it actually running.

you need more fuel into the engine, bigger pump, and either an ecu or larger injectors
