maybe see if you can block the front/back wheels, set the parking brake, and even hold the brake with your foot while you give it gas in gear, im sure if its a mount youll see the culprit moving around a bit too much and maybe even some contact with another component somewhere.
I gave that try couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, but again you gotta have it under load to make it happen.

hmm i think it might be something on the motor. i can see it being a mount at high load in the lower gears, but in 5th in might not do it? can you make the noise?

You have to try pretty hard in 5th gear, usually going up a hill or something like that.

What do you mean by "on the motor"

I checked the end play on the turbo, it's like brand new, in fact as clean as it was I am wondering if it has been replaced. You thinking like fan or something? What could be on the boost side that would cause something like that?

Damn it, I was thinking about that on the way in this morning, but it doesn't sound like it's detonation and I have pushed it pretty hard even with the noise, you think it would have blown an apex seal if it were detonation.

Does it have 93 or higher octane in it?

Old gas?

It could be just enough of a pinging but not enough to blow a seal if you werent really beating on it.
