The method that always works for me is to pry one side with a prybar while banging the opposite end with a hammer. Doing that in various spots should do the job.

I tried just tapping it with a hammer with the puller on it, but that didn't work. I eventually left the puller on and pried around the edges with a crow bar which popped it off real quick.

you need a 20lbs hammer(dead hammer) and bang it on the side every 90 degres and should popup !
my 2 cents |
i don't need no stinkin puller https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I used a cheap autozone T puller to preload the flywheel then just smacked the flywheel with a large hammer, be sure to leave the big nut on the end of the eccentric shaft if you use this method (or probably any other method too) just threaded on a few turns. It will keep the flywheel from flinging off the eccentric shaft and getting damaged smacking the floor. This method worked for removing my stock flywheel and removing the AT counterweight during my rebuild (switched to the aluminum flywheel first time around).
That autozone T puller is a piece of crap though, I don't suggest getting any tools from there, the build quality is horrible. Broke the double flare tool from them first use. hmm, speaking of rebuild, that mazdatrix shipment of all new S5 street ported housings should be arriving today https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
