Few questions

I just got my car back on the road. Its been sitting for a good year and half. Havent really driven her much cuase the tranny issues. Now i got a s5 tranny put in and welded and its all good. Did the tranny oil last night and took her for a drive. Manual car feels so sweet compared to the auto i had before i converted.
Just recently when i go to start the car, it takes bout 10 seconds to start. This is after a period of a day. But within the same day if i start it after 3-4 seconds it starts right up. Is it my starter or alternator thats going. SOmetime i hear the starter skipping/slipping.
Also when i start the car she doesnt idle just dies. Then when i start her again she idles fine.
The connectors from the tranny for my 5th gear/reverse light does not have the same connectors, so i have no reverse light when i go in reverse lol.
The s4 rx7 (GXL) has the radiator cap and assembly ontop of the motor not on the radiator like in s5. The nipple under the radiator cap on the plastic assembly broke off so i plugged it up with a screw for the mean time, dont want antifreeze spewing out. So what ever is in there is in there. I drove the car around yesterday and the water temp was good below halfway. Is it okay to run the car like this or should i just pay Mazdatrix $50 bucks for a new cap and assembly.

For your starting issue, try cycling the fuel pump on a couple times (Turn key to on without starting then back off) and see if that helps it start. If so, then your fuel is leaking back into the tank while the car sits. There might be a check valve in the fuel line that is bad or something to do with the fuel pump and tank. i had a similar problem in a camaro. The hose connecting the in-tank fuel pump and the fuel line had split inside the tank allowing the fuel line to empty back into the tank whenever the car would sit.
