Easier:

Use a TII tranny!!

Better than an FD trans, and you can buy a driveshaft from Mazdatrix, or use one from an auto vert.

The FD trans has TII internals, but with upgraded synchros, and a new case and pull style clutch. The pull clutch is a weak point at high holding power(torque capacity), but its arguable how much of an issue it really is. Since the internals are the same, the TII driveshaft will go right into an FD trans, and will be the right length to boot. You might run into an issue with the shifter location, but you might not. I havent actually put the 2 trannies side by side for comparison, but I think its going to be close, if not perfectly right.

If its better, why do all the FD guys constantly need rebuild because 3rd and 5th take a ****. I know of 150K+ TII trannys that have never had issues.

most people choose TII's cause there cheaper and more readily available.

FD trannys seem to hold down more power though, without breaking...
