Im really into both the 240sx and the rx7. Im 17 and got 4500 set aside for a car and im not really sure which one to get. I plan on doing mods to my car when i earn more money from work. If i do get the 240sx i want to do a sr20det swap . How would the sr20det compare with a turbo II. Also is it better to just buy an N/A rx7 and doing a swap in the future or just saving and buying a turbo II. Im aware of how much care and attention rotaries need. Right now im driving a 90 crap brown mini van and im sick of it. Can you guys give me your opinion on what you would do?

Save your money. Get a TII. A TII and a few mods and you have a fast decent car.



If you start playing with a 240sx and make it turbo, where are you going to get engine parts for that turbo engine easily?

Sr20det parts aren't hard to find, and some parts are even cheaper than 13bt parts! But then again, you do want a car that was built from scratch to handle great don't you. If so, get the Turbo 2. S13's tend to have a little soft handling and a lot of quality problems. I do see a lot more suspension parts for the S13 though. As far as power, rotary all the way! The worst part of getting a rotary is finding a good qualified rotary mechanic. That is, if you don't plan to learn anything about the car.

My advice is to get a TII, and keep the crap brown mini-van as a support vehicle.

The 240sx is suppose to have pretty good handling. It has good weight distribution and theres plenty of after market to fix up the suspension. A front clip and should come with everything you need and isnt too expensive around 2000 for a red top and the engine is direct bolt on. The only thing that kinda bothers me about going sr is not passing emissions.



as for a rotary mechanic, on rx7.org theres a site for a shop called mazda masters in sunnyvale which is only 20 mins away from where i live. Are these guys good?



I see some rx7 n/a's for sale at around 5000 some all the way up at 7000 with 80000+ miles. Is that the price range im going to be looking at or can i get a better deal. i see some people on th is site that are selling theres for around 2000. there was a tII in sac town for 2500 with a new motor.

You can find better deals if you look hard enough. I got mine for $1500 not running. Got a motor for $1000 and now it's pretty good.

a complete sr is $2000-$3000 then exhaust, boost controller, etc etc. it all adds up. i have two friends with 240sx's and sr20det's they are very fast and very fun but my friends spent alot of time and money

True... i do see what your saying but it would be making more hp if i added exhaust, boost controller, etc etc. It would also be the same as me buying a turbo II and adding exhaust, boost controller, etc etc.



But i think im gonna stick with and Fc3s i like the looks and it also has a lot of potential.



How hard is it to buy a N/A and then swapping a tII into it or would that be a waste of time. How much would it cost ? I think my insurance would be cheaper if i did that. Or should i just wait for a T II to show up.
