About a week ago I started my car, went for a drive, started to smell something nasty burning, the car want to stall when let off the gas but would start back up.

Looked under the hood, the 3rd pully for the A/C fan belt had seized. The belt was still trying to spin on the main drive pulley and A/C compressor but the friction of the seized 3rd pulley caused the fan belt to eventually melt apart and the friction was enough to bog down the engine.

Since I live in Texas and like my A/C in the summer, I need a new 3rd pulley. This one is just above the compressor and just below the P/S pulley. I did not realize it until I took it off but this one has bearings in the center of it. I guess because of the compressor. The bearings had seized and it looks like 3 were missing.

Anyone have one I could buy? It is for a 1987 GXL.

Thanks.

I have the whole bracket w/tensioner pulleys, ps pump, and the ac compressor, all from a 87 gxl. PM me for exactly what you want, it might be easier for me to just send you the bracket with the pulleys if the 3rd pulley you refer to is the tensioner.

buy pengs, I bought new bearings from Mazda for the tensioner, pretty cheap and then you press them in.

do you remember how much the bearings were? if he wants, i have a press and can pickup the new bearings having it all pimped out for him when it arrives, he'd have to pay for the bearings though.

Yes it is the tensioner pulley. Mine is shot to hell. Not even worth replacing the bearings. Looks like they are melted into the pulley.

Let me know how we can work this out Pengaru.

Thanks a lot.
