Exhaust Setup
#1
I know, I know, do a search...well I did, and I didn't find very much information on the possible exhaust setups that I am looking at. My car: 1987 GXL, rebuilt engine with intake and exhaust porting (streetport on exhaust ports).
The first setup: stock mani -> RB cat replacment and presilencer combo -> corksport cat-back. Does anyone run this setup? or has anyone ever seen or heard any video or sound clips of this exhaust?
The second Setup: stock mani -> bonez high flow cat system -> corksport cat-back. Same questions as above, and also, does the bonez system come with the split air pipe for proper actuation of my 5th/6th ports? Also do I still need to keep the air pump and acv with this system?
I really want to incorporate the corksport cat-back. I have heard differing opinions about noise levels (really doesn't matter to me as long as it sounds good). I would love to use the full RB system, but right now is way outta my price range. There are other mods I could do with that money right now.
Thanks for all the help!!!

Definitely looking to keep the stock mani...I also want to get rid of the air pump and acv, which I know can be done with the RB setup, but I want the high flow bonez system to quiet things just a little. The only thing about the bonez is that I don't know if it has the split air pipe for my 5th and 6th ports.

Is your reason for keeping the stock mani for noise reasons? I personally think the RB downpipe makes a pretty notable difference in power and can be kept somewhat quiet. a CS exhaust isn't going to help that though.

To each their own. With a RP dual 50mm cat back and a 2.5" high flow cat matched with a racing beat header my car more or less defines the state's limit with the light street port it has. It is pretty damn loud though so if it's more for your own interests then yeah, don't switch. I think getting rid of the cats made a huge gain but the header was pretty big too.

The bonez high flow single cat with silencer from rx7.com bolts up nice and easy. You don't have to do any modification except shorten the O2 sensor pipe. It hooks up to any stock like cat-back. And it sounds really good, nice and deep without the lawn mower. I used the borla cat back. A+++

I can sell you a all stainless dual, with coverter with air pipe for the actuators, 2 borla mufflers if you want
guranteed to pass emissions, high flow cat that runs the same as when i had the RB presilencer on there
