i have a 87 gxl, my friend told me that i have an exhaust leak so i want to replace all the gaskets, so far i bought the exhaust manifold gasket, how hard is it to replace that? also are there any other gaskets in the exhaust system? around the cats? thanks

before you go and do that put the car on jackstand run it and follow all the pipes with your hand not touching them, about an inch away and see if you feel any kind of air going across your hand. it's easy to tell if you have an exhaust leak because you will hear a 'ticking' sound

i have a 87tII about to do the exhaust manifold gasket and the 1 before the turbo.

my question is do i need to take the heat sheild off or is there anything i should know before doing this. also will it hurt to run the car without that heatsheild thanx in advance.

Yes, you will need the space and you might as well change the turbo gaskets at the same time. It's a pain in the azz. It took my mechanic and i 5 hrs to do it.
